Our Trip To Wineglass Bay, Cape Tourville, Friendly Beach and Honeymoon Bay

This trip is also known as the Terrible Car Ride...for me anyway. If you ever have the pleasure of taking a tour of these amazing places, and happen to get even the slightest bit car sick at times, do yourself a favor and take something before you get in the van. You will wish you had.

The first set of pictures were taken by my friend Jamie who was nice enough to let me upload them to my blog since I was too sick to take any pictures.
As we were on our way to Wineglass, the clouds were settling over the countryside. It was beautiful.
Thankfully, the van stopped about every 30-45 minutes to check out different things along the way. This is one of the beaches we stopped at.
This is Spiky Bridge. If you click on the picture, you can easily see why it was named that.It has several different stories associated to why the bridge was made. The cool thing about this bridge is that its foundation has absolutely nothing to help the rocks stick together. They are simply stacked on top of one another. There are several versions as to why the bridge is spiky, my favorite was that the workers (convicts) were lazy.

The next set of pictures were taken during our hike up the trail to the Wineglass Bay lookout. We walked about 40 minutes between two mountains to get there.
These trees are absolutely amazing. They start their own fires for germination and then regrow after burning.
Laura getting out of her "shell". Haha.
This large knot on this tree is kind of like a tumor. When the tree has an infected spot, it incases it and attempts to close it off from the rest of it. This is an example of that.
Wineglass Bay
We saw other Americans!!
The three of us with the bay in the background.
These are flowers from the Tea Tree. The Tea Tree is super cool because of the medicinal benefits it offers. Part of it can be used as a natural anti-bacterial ointment.
These are pictures of Honeymoon Bay. This is where we had lunch. The water was so incredibly clear and the sand was rocks!
These rocks are definitely more important than they seem. Since they are quite a distance from land, many different species of birds nest here. On these rocks, the birds are far less likely to have to fight off predators.
Our very fun and kind tour guide talked us into taking pictures on top of these rocks by a cliff. He said that when you do it, it looks like you're flying. He was definitely right! It was a blast!!
These last pictures are from Friendly Beach. It got its name when French settlers saw two Aboriginal tribes interacting on the beach. Apparently, the beach was neutral ground and therefore, "friendly" not to mention, beautiful.
